Glow Peel, brightening
A chemical peel that lifts pigmented surface cells. The usual first step for sun spots and acne marks.

Sun spots, acne marks and melasma are different problems. We find which one you have, then match the treatment.
Glow Peel $200
Dark spot treatment in Falls Church at Skin Lab starts with the cause. Sun damage, the marks acne leaves behind and melasma all look like brown patches, and each responds to something different. Our physician-led team looks at your skin and history, then builds a plan from chemical peels, laser and microneedling.
Most plans begin with a Glow Peel at $200. Call 703-488-7546 to book a skin check.

Heat and strong irritation can make melasma worse, and can leave new marks on deeper skin tones. That is why we do not start with the strongest treatment. We start with the one your pigment and skin tone can take.
Whatever we choose, daily sunscreen does half the work. Without it, pigment returns faster than any treatment can fade it.
You find out what kind of pigment you have before paying for a treatment.
Peel, laser or microneedling, chosen for your pigment and your skin tone.
We tell you how many sessions the plan is likely to take.
Gentler formulas and preparation to avoid new marks.
Sunscreen and brightening products that hold the result between visits.
Anything that should be seen by a dermatologist is flagged.
We look at the pattern and ask about sun, breakouts, pregnancy and medication.
Usually a peel. We see how your skin responds before adding anything stronger.
Treatments about four weeks apart, then maintenance and sunscreen.
It depends on the cause. Sun spots usually respond to a chemical peel or laser. Marks left by acne respond to peels and microneedling. Melasma needs a slower, gentler plan. We identify which one you have before recommending anything.
At Skin Lab the Glow Peel is $200 and Dr. Pen microneedling starts at $350, or $950 for a series of three. Laser skin rejuvenation is quoted at your consult because it depends on the area treated.
Melasma can be faded and kept under control, but it tends to return with sun, heat and hormonal changes. Treatment here is paired with daily sunscreen and a home routine, and the plan is set by our physician-led team.
Most pigment plans run three to six treatments, about four weeks apart. Sun spots often clear faster. Melasma takes longer and needs maintenance.
Yes, with the right choice. Deeper skin tones are more prone to new dark marks after irritation, so we use gentler peel formulas, prepare the skin first and avoid aggressive heat.
Sun exposure is the main reason they do. Broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, reapplied outdoors, protects the result more than any single treatment.
A spot that is new, changing, raised, itchy or bleeding should be seen by a dermatologist before any cosmetic treatment. If we see something that concerns us, we will tell you.
